Intracochlear Schwannoma: A Case Report

چکیده
First described intracochlear schwannoma was in 1917 [1], by temporal bone specimens archive. Intralabyrinthine schwannomas classified according to location of schwannoma in inner ear. For example, intracochlear, intravestibular and intravestibulocochlear schwannoma [2]. Main presenting symptom is hearing loss [3]. Tinnitus, vertigo, imbalance, and aural fullness are other symptoms. We report a case of 62-year-old man who presented with progressive right hearing loss (high frequencies) and diagnosed as intracochlear schwannoma on right side. It is a rare, cause hearing loss unilaterally and treatable. Because its located in small structure, small size lesion and different clinical presentation, the diagnosis is challenge. Abstract

Minimally invasive surgical removal of an intracochlear schwannoma causing an intractable paroxysmal positional vertigo.
Intracochlear schwannomas are rare tumours. Diagnosis is based on high-resolution MRI, which should be used for accurate determination of the location of tumours. We report a case of a cochlear schwannoma that presented with profound hearing loss and intractable paroxysmal positional vertigo, which was diagnosed with gadolinium-enhanced MRI and removed using a transcanal minimally-invasive tran...

Schwannoma is a rare benign neural neoplasm derived from Schwann cells of the peripheral nerve sheath. Schwannoma accounts for 25% to 48% of all neoplasm cases in the head and neck region. Oral Schwannoma is an uncommon soft tissue tumor comprising of 1% of all Schwannomas. Tongue is the most common location for oral schwannoma. Occurrence of gingival schwannoma is very rare and less than 10 ca...

متن کاملBenign schwannoma of posterior mediastinum accompanied by bloody pleural effusion misdiagnosed as solitary fibrous tumor: A case report
Background: Schwannoma is a peripheral nerve sheath tumor originating from schwann cells. It is the most common neurogenic tumor of the posterior mediastinum. Pleural effusion is a rare presentation of benign schwannoma and it is mainly related to malignant tumors. Histologically, schwannoma as well as solitary fibrous tumor should be considered as a differential diagnosis of spindle cell lesio...
متن کاملSchwannoma In A Perigastric Lymph Node: A Rare Case Report
Schwannomas are benign nerve sheath tumors that originate from any anatomical site. Most of the schwannomas are found in the head, neck or limbs. Schwannoma arising in a lymph node is extremely rare. We have found only four cases in the review of the literature. We experienced a case of intranodal schwannoma in a perigastric lymph node. A 72 year-old female underwent cholecystectomy due to ...
